Fifty years after the events of ALTERED CARBON, Takeshi Kovacs is serving as a mercenary in the Procterate-sponsored war to put down Joshuah Kemp's revolution on the planet Sanction IV. He is offered the chance to join a covert team chasing a prize whose value is limitless -- and whose dangers are endless. Here is a novel that takes mankind to the brink. A breakneck-paced crime thriller, ALTERED CARBON took its readers deep into the universe Morgan had so compellingly realised without ever letting them escape the onward rush of the plot. BROKEN ANGELS melds SF, the war novel and the spy thriller to take the reader below the surface of this future and lay bare the treacheries, betrayals and follies that leave man so ill-prepared for the legacy he has been given: the stars. This is SF at its dizzying best: superb, yet subtle, world-building; strong yet sensitive characterisation; awesome yet believable technology, thilling yet profound writing. 'Epic . . . Rambunctious . . . Highly entertaining' New York Times 'All we do, mija, is love. Love is the answer. Nothing stops it. Not borders. Not death.' In his final days, beloved and ailing patriarch Miguel Angel de La Cruz, affectionately called Big Angel, has summoned his entire clan for one last legendary birthday party. But as the party approaches, his mother, nearly one hundred, dies, transforming the weekend into a farewell doubleheader. Among the guests is Big Angel's half brother, known as Little Angel, who must reckon with the truth that although he shares a father with his siblings, he has not, as a half gringo, shared a life. Across two bittersweet days in their San Diego neighbourhood, the revellers mingle among the palm trees and cacti, celebrating the lives of Big Angel and his mother, and recounting the many inspiring tales that have passed into family lore, the acts both ordinary and heroic that brought these citizens to a fraught and sublime country and allowed them to flourish in the land they have come to call home. Teeming with brilliance and humor, authentic at every turn, The House of Broken Angels is Luis Alberto Urrea at his best, and cements his reputation as a storyteller of the first rank.

But many residents in the nearby village of Welton suspect she has been kidnapped or murdered. Layla's mother, Abby, is deeply despondent and of little help. Still more questions go unanswered. Did Abby run away from her abusive husband, or was she murdered? In the end, the long-awaited answers spring from rather unexpected sources, including angel visions of a café cook and the vandalized sculpture of an ex-New York City artist.

*WARNING 18+ mature audiences only* this book is a dark romance, intended for ages 18+Contains trigger matter including: sexually and physically abusive situations, explicit language, torture, and a back-story in human trafficking. Not for the faint of heart.*Mac"I'm guarded, emotionally cut off, and fiercely independent. I was content hiding from my 'condition' and my secrets behind a boring routine life. I have a great job I busted my ass for, a best friend that is more family than the one I was born into, and I hate complicated. I didn't do relationships, or more accurately, I couldn't. Not that it stopped my outspoken and neurotic best friend from trying to hook me up every chance she got. Which is exactly what she was doing when she, not so subtly, pushed me into 'him'. He was gorgeous and with his tortured cobalt eyes he drew me in. Alec is the definition of complicated. I tried not to want him, but he pushed until I bent. But he has secrets and an unimaginable past that rivals mine and it will try to rip us apart. For the first time in my life I found someone worth fighting for, the question is, will we survive the battle?"Alec "I keep my emotions hidden in my taciturn facade, using my cold personality to keep people at a distance. I'm on a mission to rid the world of the scum my father did business with and trying everyday to find redemption for the night I failed the person I love most. I didn't have time for relationships, nor did I want one. I have a dangerous past and an unpredictable future. I play by my own rules and I struggle everyday straddling the line between black and gray. You don't grow up with a father like mine and not have a few issues. The only people close to me are my little sister Karlie and my three obnoxious friends, who are like brothers. Then I saw 'her'. Mac was beautiful, with her raven black hair and those lonely emerald eyes. She's feisty and she has dark secrets of her own. I had to have her. But will the past, that has taken so much from me already, claim her too?"*This is the first in a 5 book series*

When school psychologist Amy Sheffield moves to a small town in Ohio, she is looking for a quiet place to start over after her husband and child are killed in a house fire. She has no idea that she is about to become an expert on the pathology of serial killers. The first few deaths seem to be a series of tragic accidents, when a child who is afraid of heights falls from a hiking trail and a girl with severe allergies ingests peanuts causing anaphylactic shock. Yet, as more children die from methods employing their worst fears, it becomes apparent that a killer, who knows the community well, is preying on innocence. When Amy takes in a foster child to protect her from the suspected killer, danger strikes close to home. Will Amy be able to identify the killer before she, or the little girl in her care, becomes the next victim? Or has evil found the perfect masquerade to remain undetected?

The collective stories in this deeply moving and powerful book represent the thoughts and experiences of some of the most courageous women I know.

The collective stories in this deeply moving and powerful book represent the thoughts and experiences of some of the most courageous women I know. They strive to come to grips with the unexplained tolerance and silence of others during their suffering as little girls. Much they have forgotten or their minds repressed in order to keep their sanity; to make a life for themselves in this sometimes hostile world. These wonderful women have tried to go on living as normal a life as they can; suppressing the rage bottled up inside them; repressing the horrible memories which haunt them. Many keep quiet about their suffering; not because they have nothing to say; but because they are supremely better in character and virtue than those men who abused them. Some of these men probably gloat in their seeming success in molesting these girls-now-women; thinking they got away scot-free, but they are so very long. These women will have their great character highlighted in Heaven's Hall of Fame; while these molesters will end up in the Hall of Shame. We salute these survivors; hope and pray that your stories will encourage and empower others. You have suffered in silence, now we hope that your stories will speak volumes to all decent men and women; that they may know the plight of millions of little girls, some already being abused, while others are targets for abuse by other molesters who deal in the inferior and dark world of incest and child sexual abuse. We pray that your lives will be changed and healed. Robert McElroy, D.Min., is a pastor in Terrell, Tx., a Pharmacist in Dallas, Tx. He received his BS (Fla. A&M Univ.); MA (Dallas Theological Seminary) and D.Min. (Southern Methodist Univ.). He is an author, lecturer, and friend.

The Broken Angel is the first book-length examination of a mythopoetic configuration that pervades Valery's entire textual universe. The Angel is linked to almost every one of its themes and informs all of its modes, which, in turn, form and deform it. In delineating the textual traces of these transformations and the construction and destruction of the symbolic figure inherited from tradition, Franklin links its defigurations to Valery's method of composition, the weaving of anterior segments into texts, many of which remain open-ended and fragmentary. She shows how the broken form of Valery's texts on the Angel is conditioned by the very tensions inherent in the theme, tensions disclosed by a reading that also reveals the existential situation and psychological predispositions of an Ego scriptor whose Broken Angel emerges from broken texts.
