What does Awakening mean? What form does it take? How does it affect ones practical life? How is it integrated? These are all important questions that are addressed in the chapters in this book.
Category: Body, Mind & Spirit
This book contains 12 unique accounts of Awakening. They are all taken from transcripts of interviews that were made for conscious.tv. People used to talk of 'Enlightenment' or 'Self-Realisation' but these days it is Awakening that people tend to speak of. What does Awakening mean? What form does it take? How does it affect ones practical life? How is it integrated? These are all important questions that are addressed in the chapters in this book. Some of the subjects are renowned spiritual teachers while others are completely unknown having never lead a seminar or written a book. The beauty of the spiritual path is that no story is the same. There are a myriad of paths up the mountain and we all end up finding our own way. So many of us realise that we are much, much more than just a human being. There are so many levels of our existence. This book will hopefully encourage you, inspire you, and maybe even guide you to find out who you really are. Interviews with Susanne Marie, Debra Wilkinson, Richard Moss, Mukti, Miek Pot, Reggie Ray, Aloka (David Smith), Deborah Westmorland, Russel Williams, Jurgen Ziewe, Martyn Wilson, Jah Wobble

In the middle of the night on 2nd August 2016, Neale Donald Walsch found himself drawn into a new and totally unexpected dialogue with God in which he suddenly faced two questions: Is the human race being offered help by Highly Evolved Beings from Another Dimension? Is there a key role that humans are being invited to play in advancing their own evolution by joining in a mutual mission to assist the planet during the critical times ahead? He was told the answer to both questions is yes. Then he was given 16 specific examples of how Highly Evolved Beings respond to life differently than humans and how adopting even a few of those behaviours could forever change the course of world history for the better. That information makes up the body of this work.

How can the church respond to issues of imperialism, race and globalization? Constructing an evangelical postcolonial theology may be the solution to dealing with these ever-growing issues. Gathering together essays presented at the 2010 Postcolonial Roundtable at Gordon College, this groundbreaking volume seeks to reconcile the ugly history of cultural dominion and colonialism with new perspectives on global society.Rethinking and reimagining the concepts of identity, power, interpretation and historiography through the lens of Christianity, the editors provide readers with new ways of understanding and bettering the world."The Christian faith of the future must be a joint enterprise in which the descendants of the colonized and the descendants of the colonizers come together, reflect on the past and imagine a different and better future together," contributor Brian McLaren states. "That work will involve risks and dangers for both groups, and the contributions of both are essential. One lesson the gospel surely teaches us is this: we are all connected."Addressing themes like nationalism, Christology and western conquest, contributors discuss reasons Christians need to be careful how they frame their conversations on global topics. The language of "mission" can be misconstrued in light of postcolonial perspectives, and the essays dig into the role of evangelicalism in modern Christian outreach to help us keep pace with what God is doing in our era.

Prominent spiritual counselor and medium Anna Raimondi channels the Blessed Mother in this insightful, prescriptive, and timely dialogue that not only acts as a guide to modern spirituality but celebrates the Mother Mary as a central figure for all people and religions across the globe. At age five, in the backyard of her suburban Long Island home, Anna Raimondi had a profound experience. A contemplative child, she slid her body into the small grotto that once held a statue of the Blessed Mother. Anna remembers “a feeling of pure and unadulterated peace.” In that peace, she heard a voice. It was gentle and strong, and it said, “Anna, I am here for you always. Always come to me.” That was the beginning of their first conversation. And while many more followed, the ones included in this book took place in the last year and follow Mary’s emphatic, progressive message that she wants to be heard by all, regardless of religious affiliation. Through Anna, Mary touches and teaches important truths about: - A soul, its immortal nature and the lessons along each soul’s journey. - Prayer, its power, the right way to pray, and the difference between surrendering to God and not taking responsibility for one’s actions. - What happens when we die, with revelations into the realities of heaven, hell, purgatory, and reincarnation. Mary also provides insightful answers to questions about terrorism, the world’s refugee crisis, racism, gender inequality, marriage equality, and more. Her conversations with Anna are simultaneously illuminating, inspiring, and provocative, and offer you a guide to go back to the simple messages God gave us of love and peace.

Parents and teachers today face a swirl of conflicting theories about child rearing and educational practice. Indeed, current guides are contradictory, oversimplified, and at odds with current scientific knowledge. Now, in Awakening Children's Minds, Laura Berk cuts through the confusion of competing theories, offering a new way of thinking about the roles of parents and teachers and how they can make a difference in children's lives. This is the first book to bring to a general audience, in lucid prose richly laced with examples, truly state-of-the-art thinking about child rearing and early education. Berk's central message is that parents and teachers contribute profoundly to the development of competent, caring, well-adjusted children. In particular, she argues that adult-child communication in shared activities is the wellspring of psychological development. These dialogues enhance language skills, reasoning ability, problem-solving strategies, the capacity to bring action under the control of thought, and the child's cultural and moral values. Berk explains how children weave the voices of more expert cultural members into dialogues with themselves. When puzzling, difficult, or stressful circumstances arise, children call on this private speech to guide and control their thinking and behavior. In addition to providing clear roles for parents and teachers, Berk also offers concrete suggestions for creating and evaluating quality educational environments--at home, in child care, in preschool, and in primary school--and addresses the unique challenges of helping children with special needs. Parents, Berk writes, need a consistent way of thinking about their role in children's lives, one that can guide them in making effective child-rearing decisions. Awakening Children's Minds gives us the basic guidance we need to raise caring, thoughtful, intelligent children.

The master is also the greatest disciple. The followed is the biggest follower. And in his humility lie the greatest lessons of life. The first thing that strikes the author about Dada Vawasni is his extraordinary humility and how his laughter reaches his sparkling eyes—the signs of a great master and yet a reluctant one at that. Their conversations are light, fun and full of cheer and yet, within them there is the depth and wisdom of life and beyond. What is prayer? What are the duties of a householder? What is the life of surrender... Their talks range from the concept karma to the role of the guru; from leading a spiritual life to the light of God. And within these questions and conversations are answers to the many spiritual questions that a seeker might have. Conversations with Dada Vaswani is a spiritual biography and a journey; it is also dialogue between the Sage and the seeker...

Youth ministry has increasingly lost touch with its origins in the way of Jesus and the social practices intrinsic to Christian discipleship, and has instead substituted layers of "Jesus talk," middle class values, fun and games, and doses of "warm fellow-feeling." Awakening Youth Discipleship articulates the history of this domestication of youth and ministry. Mahan, Warren, and White tell a story of the ways in which our society has colluded to shape a domesticated adolescence. The authors believe a Christian response to this challenge must be multilevel, addressing the problem at three levels--society, church, and individual. The authors propose reclaiming practices of discernment that both engage congregations in social awareness and involve individuals in discerning fuller vocational opportunities than those allowed by popular cultural norms.

My oldest daughter, Courtney, died in December, 2010, at the age of forty, of complications from twenty years of drug addiction. This is not the story of her life, but her afterlife, in which she is communicating with me, through automatic writing, about what she is learning on the “other” side. Although I have done automatic writing at various times in my life, I have never before had such a long, ongoing communication. But then I’ve never before had a child pass over. Courtney was a very sociable, talkative, witty, sensitive, loving, and spiritual person when she was alive. Drugs took some of that away, but the essence of who she was on earth and who she is showing me through these writings definitely remains. She writes, through me, about life on the other side, the reason we come to earth, and the lessons we need to learn. Her writings have been helpful to my family and friends, and my friends have passed them on to some of their friends. It seems to make people feel better and look at things differently. I know it’s made everything a lot easier for me, knowing she’s still around and continues to learn, grow, and pass that information on to us. I hope you’ll find her words as inspiring, helpful, and life-affirming as we have.

Some of the world’s foremost thought leaders consider the role of leadership, love, and power in the midst of political and social upheaval. In a world where organizations and leaders face conflicts and complexity at an alarming rate, where human cruelty sometimes dominates kindness in individuals and families, and where nations hover in the shadow of moral and financial collapse, how do we find courage to forge a strong and enduring path into the future? In this book, fourteen of the world’s foremost thought leaders consider the role of leadership, love, and power in the midst of political and social upheaval. Included are interviews with former president of the Philippines Corazon Aquino; servant-leaders Margaret Wheatley, Ken Blanchard, George Zimmer, and James Autry; and others. They engage the significant leadership questions of our time and reveal an uncommon and life-affirming path toward families, organizations, and nations imbued with generosity and meaning. “There have been so many books and articles written on servant-leadership, sometimes it’s hard to know where to turn. Finally a book that is a composite of the greatest thinkers and advocates of the concept has been written. Reading this book will give you a very complete view of servant-leadership and will help you to bring it to life in your organization.” — Howard Behar, President (retired), Starbucks International

This is an unusual volume. During his periods of study with Ed mund Husserl - first from I924 1. 0 I926, then from I93I to I932 - Dorion Cairns had become imnlensely impressed with the stri king philosophical quality of Husserl's conversations with his students and co-workers. Not unlike his daily writing (five to six hours a day was not uncommon, as Husserl reports herein, the nature of which was a continuous searching, reassessing, modi fying, advancing and even rejecting of former views), Husserl's conversations, especially evidenced from Cairns's record, were remarkable for their depth and probing character. Because of this, and because of the importaIlt light they threw on Husserl's written and published works, Cairns had early resolved to set down in writing, as accurately as possible, the details of these conversations. Largely prompted by the questions and concerns of his students, including Cairns, the present Conversations (from the second period, I93I-I932, except for the initial conversation) provide a significant, intriguing, and always fascinating insight into both the issues which were prominent to Husserl at this time, and the way he had come to view the systematic and historical placement of his own earlier studies. Cairns had often insisted - principally in his remarkable lec 1 tures at the Graduate Faculty of the New School - that attaining a fair and accurate view of Husserl's enormously rich and complex 1 Cairns's lectures between 1956 and 1964 are especially important.

A Black Man's Journey in America: Glimpses of Islam, Conversations and Travels

One of the most progressive movements for “Freedom, Justice and Equality” in African American history has been Islam. Transported into America among the very first slaves, it has survived for four centuries under the most difficult of circumstances. Yet, it has produced some of the most influential leaders among Black Americans including Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, Imam Warithu Deen Mohammed, Louis Farrakhan and many others. In A Black Man’s Journey in America: Glimpses of Islam, Conversations and Travels, I have placed my family’s history within the context of that Islamic heritage. Further, I have attempted to unravel the method through which African American Muslims were so often forced to embrace as a means of survival.
