Despite enduring whispers, sideway glances, and blatant discrimination, men and women today are choosing to remain single—and are enjoying complete and joyful lives. In this carefully crafted, thoroughly researched book, Elyakim Kislev delivers groundbreaking insights on the fastest growing demographic in the world: singles. Happy Singlehood investigates how unmarried people create satisfying lives in a world where social structures and policies are still designed to favor married couples. The book challenges readers to rethink how single people organize social and familial life in new ways, and illuminates how educators, policymakers, and urban planners ignore their needs. Based on personal interviews, singles’ writings, and widespread quantitative analysis, Happy Singlehood investigates how singles nurture social networks, create innovative communities, and effectively deal with discrimination. Showcasing voices of singles, Kislev charts a way forward to assist singles to live life on their terms, and explains how everyone—single or otherwise—benefits from the freedom to develop new and fulfilling lifestyles.

“The ones who are able to see the high meaning of beauty are cultural people. However, the chosen one is the one who sees only one thing in beauty: the Beauty itself” said one of the most famous English poets, writers, playwrights, a bright and inimitable Oscar Wilde (1854-1900). Oscar Wilde is the author of not only the world famous novel “Portrait of Dorian Gray”, but also of beautiful fairy tales combining the rich imagination of the writer and the ironic style of narration. Every detail has a symbolic meaning and beauty, along with the good, acts as an inseparable whole. Tales give the most complete picture of Wilde's vivid multifaceted talent; these works are graceful, ghostly poetic “symbolist” tales. They sing the beauty of good deeds, sympathy for the offended and humanity. Wilde is also famous for such works as “Puffy Rocket”, “Infanta's Birthday”, “Nightingale and the Rose”, “Princess's Birthday”, “Faithful Friend”, “Young King”, “The Prince and the Swallow”, “The Egoist Giant” " and "Star Boy".

A job search is never easy and a struggling economy only makes it harder. Everybody knows she or he needs to be smarter, faster and better in finding a job, but how? After all, a job search is synonymous with plenty of hard work and also plenty of rejection. Now, career transition expert "Barbara Safani" comes to every job seeker's rescue by addressing this pressing issue in a way that makes complete sense in today's economy. In "'Happy About My Job Search'," Barbara offers a candid perspective of what a job search is, and isn't. She offers plenty of practical hints for building better resumes and writing compelling cover letters. From her own experience, she freely shares an understanding of how to network during a job search, prepare strategies for interviews and negotiate a competitive compensation package. As Barbara has noticed repeatedly, most of what occupies people in their job searches is really no more than busy work or wheel spinning. Job seekers often post endlessly on dead-end or random job boards, attend local career fairs whether or not they are useful, or simply hand out resumes to someone who promises to 'see what they can do'--but these search methods rarely yield fruitful outcomes. With expert insight and perspective, Barbara reveals the way to be well informed and better prepared for the journey ahead. And surprisingly, she shows that it's possible to even find some fun, joy, and happiness during your job search. With articulate grace, Barbara shows you how to enjoy and see success even in the most trying job search situation.

Everyone wants to be happy--yet so many people are unhappy today. What are they doing wrong? Clearly, a new approach is needed. Self-help guru Shimoff presents three new ideas and a practical program to change the way readers look at creating happiness in their lives: 1. Happiness is not an emotion, a spike of elation or euphoria, but a lasting, neuro-physiological state of peace and well-being. 2. True happiness is not based on what people do or have--it doesn't depend on external reasons or circumstances. 3. Research indicates that everyone has a happiness set-point. No matter what happens to a person, they will tend to return to a set range of happiness. This book shows how you can actually reprogram your set-point to a higher level.--From publisher description.

This collection of short plays is an adaptation of traditional stories from around the world. The stories have been selected not only because they have remained favourites over time but also for their creative possibilities in terms of reading aloud, elocution and drama. The happy man's shirt is a story from Europe. From Greece we have the tales of Hercules and the cart-driver, Mercury and the woodcutter and Philemon and Baucis. The paper-maker, a story from China, tells us how the festival of lanterns began. And from Arabia we have the story of The two brothers.

Gabriel Richardson Lear presents a bold new approach to one of the enduring debates about Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics: the controversy about whether it coherently argues that the best life for humans is one devoted to a single activity, namely philosophical contemplation. Many scholars oppose this reading because the bulk of the Ethics is devoted to various moral virtues--courage and generosity, for example--that are not in any obvious way either manifestations of philosophical contemplation or subordinated to it. They argue that Aristotle was inconsistent, and that we should not try to read the entire Ethics as an attempt to flesh out the notion that the best life aims at the "monistic good" of contemplation. In defending the unity and coherence of the Ethics, Lear argues that, in Aristotle's view, we may act for the sake of an end not just by instrumentally bringing it about but also by approximating it. She then argues that, for Aristotle, the excellent rational activity of moral virtue is an approximation of theoretical contemplation. Thus, the happiest person chooses moral virtue as an approximation of contemplation in practical life. Richardson Lear bolsters this interpretation by examining three moral virtues--courage, temperance, and greatness of soul--and the way they are fine. Elegantly written and rigorously argued, this is a major contribution to our understanding of a central issue in Aristotle's moral philosophy.
