More Than This

I'll confess, I don't think More Than This is funny-funny or, rather, as funny as my
stuff usually can be. It's a love story, not necessarily a comedic one, but it does
have light and absurd moments which I look forward to experiencing in my own
life.

Sometimes what we have is not enough. She doesn't know his name and he doesn't know hers, but they just might be perfect for each other. Alexander Velazquez, an ambitious lawyer from a working-class neighborhood, and Evelyn Sinclair, a daughter of privilege trying to make it on her own, are strangers living parallel yet very different lives. Alex finds himself deeply entrenched in the life of an unredeemable client, and Evelyn realizes she's committed herself to a company with questionable ethics. They are both brokenhearted workaholics constantly trying to keep up with the demands of family and friends. What they both want is to find meaning in their lives; what they're doing is looking in the wrong directions. As they watch each other through their office windows, all they can do is wonder about what might happen if they took a chance on the stranger across the street.

On July 17th 2018, D. Michael met his twin flame who awakened something in his spirit that gave us,”A Future More Than This.” He hopes that by reading his first work you will come away with an understanding that when it comes to God, it is more about a relationship than a religion. And that the best religion that you could ever hope to practice is the one that you are practicing now! We are all more than what we seem at first read. And not only is love all you need; in the end, love is all there is! Everything else; as strange as it might seem, is an illusion!

From two-time Carnegie Medal winner Patrick Ness comes an enthralling and provocative new novel chronicling the life — or perhaps afterlife — of a teen trapped in a crumbling, abandoned world. A boy named Seth drowns, desperate and alone in his final moments, losing his life as the pounding sea claims him. But then he wakes. He is naked, thirsty, starving. But alive. How is that possible? He remembers dying, his bones breaking, his skull dashed upon the rocks. So how is he here? And where is this place? It looks like the suburban English town where he lived as a child, before an unthinkable tragedy happened and his family moved to America. But the neighborhood around his old house is overgrown, covered in dust, and completely abandoned. What’s going on? And why is it that whenever he closes his eyes, he falls prey to vivid, agonizing memories that seem more real than the world around him? Seth begins a search for answers, hoping that he might not be alone, that this might not be the hell he fears it to be, that there might be more than just this. . . .

More Than This, like David Kirby's previous acclaimed collections, is shot through with the roadhouse fervor of early rock 'n' roll. Yet these rollicking poems also contain an oceanic feeling more akin to the great symphonies of Europe than the two-minute singles of Little Richard and other rock pioneers, as Kirby seeks to startle, to please, to unwind the knots that we get ourselves into and make it possible to being anew. Little goes unnoticed in these poems: death is present, along with love, friendship, food, religious ardor and philosophical skepticism, nights on the town and quiet evenings at home. With More Than This, his twelfth collection, Kirby takes readers back in time and out in space, offering quiet wisdom and a sense of the endless possibilities that art and life give us all.

Fall in love with Foster Sutton and Jules Taylor in this hot and heartwarming friends-to-lovers romance from Clare James’ best-selling Impossible Love Series! It’s all fun and games…until you live together. I bite my lip when Foster’s tattoo peeks out from under his shirt. Yes, it is completely cliché. And yes, I do look like some kind of B-list p*rn star lusting after this man and going into heat every time he shows a little skin. But seriously, he is that delicious—which is why I occasionally succumb to his advances. He’s also one of my best friends, so I really need to get it together. I’m not the only one. Foster is a mess, trying to figure out his own crap—usually over whiskey Cokes—and it’s getting old. That’s why I’ve finally made a vow to forget him and find something real. But when I’m hurt in a ridiculous bar fight and left with broken bones, I have no choice but to let him move in and help me out. It’s a roommates only situation. Really…well, until it isn’t. Impossible Roommates is a full-length, stand-alone romantic comedy that can be read on its own, or as part of the Impossible Love Series. So, apparently I'm a warlock. That's what I've been told by a mysterious stranger who broke into my home and claims to be a vampire. He also says my powers are going to activate in two weeks, on my twenty-fifth birthday. Oh, and by the way, that just might set me off like a nuclear bomb. Since something inside me is starting to build to almost unbearable levels, he might be right about that. He also says he's willing to help me, as long as I do a favor for him in return. But can I trust him?And why does this have to be happening now, right after I met the man of my dreams? Ari Bloom is everything I've ever wanted, and there's no way I can tell him about any of this while we're just getting to know each other. What would I even say? Oh hey, turns out magic is real, I might be the most powerful warlock on the planet, and there's a chance I could go supernova in a few days. Yeah, I don't think so.My name is Griffin Vale, and this is what I have to do: survive my birthday, help a vampire in need, and keep pretending everything is perfectly normal for Ari's sake, even as my world starts spiraling wildly out of control around us. Piece of cake, right? This light-hearted, M/M paranormal romance is part of Alexa Land's California Obscura Series. It features an inept warlock, a sweet cinnamon roll of a barista, an annoyed bulldog, and an assortment of vampires. While characters throughout the series make cameo appearances, each book is written as a stand-alone.
