The Naked Life is a coming of age story set against the backdrop of World War II. It is a captivating, visual and sincere memoir that traces Antonie's life from the age of eleven in Austria, to the work camps in Siberia, and on to Israel. The harsh brutalities of war are sliced by memories of first kisses and dances. The naked life is a life devoid of possessions, of home, of food, of civility, and sometimes of hope. But, in that naked life, with all excess whittled away and when expected the least, scintillas of human kindness wax brightest.

The inscription on the back cover says it all: "I have not lived in vain but lived for this." Since my Collected Poems were published in 2004, I have lived and learned, loved and lost, and lived to love again. This is the journal of my journey, contained within these three hundred pieces of my heart. This is my best, and never mind the rest. As the title indicates, I write from my heart to yours, "dancing naked" as it were as I deal with disability and struggle to survive in this house haunted by a hundred years of the colorful history of my strange family. The poems cover the entire spectrum of human experience from tragedy to triumph, despair to delight, and all my adventures between along the way. I am a wanderer, a lone wolf, an outsider looking in. This is my story, this is my heart in three hundred pieces. I offer it to you with love and the pride of an honest craftsman, in both softcover and collectible hardcover editions. Respect and solidarity, +Steven Curtis Lance

The prologue. The Inveigler is a lucid poetic depiction of seduction. With a stepwise narrative approach, the battle for the human soul (the house) is captured. Chapter 1 commences with the event at Eden, how a covenant was (written in the blood of Abel) enacted between the woman and her seed and the ancient Serpent (Sin). The consequence of this covenant was to play out in both the immediate and subsequent generations. Saul visits a witch at Endor and eats there and ends up giving all the souls in his family in one day to the same inveigler. The creator had commenced work immediately when this imbroglio started and foremost set up a counter covenant of circumcision of the flesh. Mankind was to continue to increase beyond the Serpents diabolic decimation machinery. In Egypt, the latter attempted to beat this event of the eight day by demanding the execution of every male newborn at the delivery stool. But then, the deed must work like covenants. He was outwitted; oppression bred multiplication! He continued with his potent weapon; Idolatry (illicit sex). The creator went to the next stage, the circumcision of the Spiritthe ultimate covenant. This time around another virgin was convinced to bring forth the tree of life. Mankind was given another opportunity to eat this word that was made flesh and live forever. Another covenant was written in the blood of Jesus, which began to speak better things (blessings) than the blood of Abel. The remembrance of this covenant by the faithful in The Lords Supper continues to be a torment in the heart of the ancient Serpent. The Prince of this world thus became the pauper; a fugitive and wanderer. The former fugitives (due to the scheme at Eden) now have rest in the New Covenant. The ultimate climax of this real life drama is the exit of Sin from the house he had occupied since he schemed his way into it at Eden. The book culminates in a thrilling narrative epilogue; Manna which portrays seduction at its best and what happens to a man when he allows Sin in the House.

Fifteen leading architects are hailed as 'Masters of Light' in this new take on residential architecture. Writer and architectural photographer Peter Hyatt shows how light, in the hands of these masters, is used to shape, create, transform, heal and regenerate. This book illustrates how architects' often experimental, and highly individual, responses to the brief, site and environment of housing projects can be transcended by the manipulation of light. Just as light can increase worker productivity and satisfaction in an office, it can be shaped to fit a family's lifestyle and enhance its sense of well-being. Each of the features architects demonstrates an impeccable ability to capture the evanescent world of light and shade, and to use it not just as an architectural building block, but as navigation, interior design and artwork. Their skills in shaping light are explored in the more than 60 residential projects examined in this book.

In “The Naked Soul of Iceberg Slim,” the fierce and lyrical icon for criminal reformation describes himself as “ill…from America’s fake façade of justice and democracy.” For Iceberg, the illness may have been a detriment, but for us, it’s a gift. His tales serve as a chilling reminder that we are all still inmates of one prison or another, and the time to break free has arrived. Iceberg Slim took the public into the raw, unseen, predatory reality of America with “Pimp”. This time around, he puts the emphasis on reality with his collection of personal essays. This is Iceberg, in California, broken down into a million pieces of anger, wisdom, but ready for a shift in his own consciousness. From the corrupt LAPD to a broken heart, Iceberg recounts woes that the average Joe can’t even fathom. Iceberg Slim takes us for a ride; this time not only through the harrowing world of a pimp, but through his brain, his soul, and his psyche. The racist, gut-wrenching universe Iceberg Slim inhabits throughout this novel and his struggle to endure is one that will be appreciated by all. The story’s arch of chaos to cleansing is startlingly honest. After all, one can’t help but root for the man who had the courage to rupture the bars of the cell society created for him and the man who gave a voice to those too afraid to speak. In “The Naked Soul of Iceberg Slim” his voice reigns loud and clear, and ready for vengeance.

During his last years ethnohistorian Frank G. Speck turned to the study of Iroquois ceremonialism. This 1950 book investigates the religious rites of the Cayuga tribe, one of six in the Iroquois confederation that occupied upstate New York until the American Revolution. In the 1930s and the 1940s Frank Speck observed the Midwinter Ceremony, the Cayuga thanksgiving for the blessings of life and health, performed in long houses on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario. Collaborating with Alexander General (Deskáheh), the noted Cayuga chief, Speck describes vividly the rites and dances giving thanks to all spiritual entities. Of special interest are the medicine societies that not only prescribed herbs but used powerfully evocative masks in treating the underlying causes of sickness. In a new introduction, William N. Fenton discusses Speck’s distinguished career.

Go ahead. Leave your loneliness behind. We all want to matter to someone, but the risks of relationship can seem far too great. It’s easier to just keep our distance. We fear embarrassment, misunderstandings, and even rejection, so we silently endure our loneliness. We work on trying to be nice–rather than being real–hoping that others will like us. Or we might simply give in to the path of least resistance–the life of hurry, impatience, and fatigue–which feels familiar and safe. We pay a terrible price to avoid authentic relationships. It’s time to stop denying your deepest longing–the desire to be known and loved. The Naked Soul shows you how to know and accept others, and how to be known and accepted by others. You can exchange the familiar but deadly territory of loneliness for the exhilaration of giving and receiving love. You don’t have to hide any longer. Break free from loneliness, be the person God created you to be, and start living a life that matters.

On a hot, humid morning in May 1545, a joint conversion brigade of the Portuguese King and the Pope set out to spread Christ's message of love and compassion, but they leave behind a deathly trail of murder and mayhem. Armed with a monstrous cannon and scores of firearms, the brigade raids Princess Darshana Kamya Kathodi's palace in Tana, carrying for her and her people the King's inviolable conversion orderƒ sealed by the Pope's promise of a new heaven. The beautiful, 18-year-old tribal princess fights back with her ace archers' poison arrows. Revenge of the Naked Princess shows how brutal, forced conversions can blur the line between religion and carnage. This historical page-turner by veteran journalist-turned-novelist Oswald Pareira comes after the success of his widely-acclaimed, best-selling thriller The Newsroom Mafia.

We didn't speak for the first minute, we were so disorientated. I had to genuinely think very hard about where I was. Then I remembered I was in Australia.' It's the late eighties and 24-year-old Kerry has been drifting aimlessly through life in Edinburgh. Rarely having plans of any kind, she gets drunk and things happen: sex, drugs, parties, relationships, and, when she's really pushed, work. Setting off on a hastily arranged visit to Australia, Kerry packs only three items of clothing, a pair of flip-flops, two hundred pounds and her young persons' work visa. Soon broke, hungry and homeless, she joins ART, a likeable but mismatched band of travellers who sell dodgy oil paintings door-to-door in the suburbs. Young, beautiful and free, they drink wildly and live for the moment. Embarking on a riotous road trip together, their lives become deeply entangled, and the drinking spirals out of control. Eventually, Kerry is forced to admit that her journey to Australia isn't quite what it seems ...
