By exploring the details of how everything works within these structures we can discover the true meaning of existence. The meaning of existence that emerges from this exploration has come from utilizing all possible methods of human research. These include scientific evidence, mystical evidence, philosophical necessity, logic, and deduction. The meaning uncovered, at its core, points to the existence of soulmates as the fundamental element in the fulfillment and design of the universe.Along with soulmates the true nature of reincarnation, auras, transcendental consciousness and other higher realities are uncovered. Why are you here? What is your life's purpose? What is the meaning of your life? Do you exist because of an accident of nature, or is there a deeper explanation? Author: W. Bradford Wilcox
Publisher: Oxford University Press
Drawing on broad national surveys and detailed interviews, W. Bradford Wilcox and Nicholas Wolfinger illuminate the largely positive influence that churches have on relationships and marriage among African Americans and Latinos. Soul Mates shines a much needed spotlight on strong and happy minority couples. The authors reveal that both married and unmarried minority couples who attend church together are much more likely to enjoy happy relationships and to get and stay married, in comparison to similar couples who do not regularly attend church. In particular, they describe how churches serving these communities promote a ''code of decency'' encompassing hard work, temperance, and personal responsibility, as well as an ethic based on the Golden Rule, all of which strengthens minority relationships. But this book also shows that religion is no silver bullet when it comes to addressing the challenges facing African Americans and Latinos. Infidelity, domestic violence, and divorce-among other things-can be found among the ranks of black and Latino churchgoers. Religious faith and religious participation offer no guarantees of a happy family life. Indeed, this book provides the first systematic evidence that religiosity does not substantially affect the likelihood that African Americans and Latinos will engage in sex before marriage or have a child out of wedlock. The authors offer compelling evidence as to why this is the case, focusing on the unique economic and cultural challenges facing African Americans and Latinos in twenty-first century America. Soul Mates offers a wealth of critical insight into the effect of religion on black and Latino relationships. It is also in invaluable source of concrete strategies for pastoral leaders in these communities.

Author: Juliana Geran Pilon
In Soulmates: Resurrecting Eve, Juliana Geran Pilon argues for a return to an egalitarian view of men and women, found in the original Genesis narrative, as reflected through Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In each of these Abrahamic traditions, it was understood that man and woman were created to be soulmates in God's image-equal despite their different functions within society. Pilon writes that this original message has gradually been distorted, with disastrous effect. Any hope for an ennobling human community begins by resurrecting Eve as an equal partner to Adam. The work examines the Biblical creation narrative, comparing it to Greek and other ancient mythologies. Pilon explains how the disturbing association of woman with sin and death led to Eve's demise as Adam's equal. The final section of the work deals with the Goddess myth, love and marriage in early religious narratives, and modern man's search for his soul no less than for a soulmate. The book, at its core, is a meditation on the relationship between men and women but also among human beings. The resurrection of Eve is indispensable to attaining a true appreciation of love and faith. Pilon uses religious texts, expert commentary, and various works of fiction, poetry, and psychology to make her argument come alive. The work is strengthened by the writing style, alternately poetic and humorous, and a clear and illuminating progression of ideas. Its emphasis on reconciliation and understanding, and its post-feminist outlook will find a receptive audience.

Emi and Polly Leto are identical twins with a shared life until Emi vanishes and Polly is left searching. Now one becomes two, and twindom becomes duplicity as myth and memory merge, forcing Emi and Polly to confront what they thought they knew about themselves, one another and the parents who made them. Behind the twins there is the creator of their souls, a woman called Sarah, a mother without whom there would be no story to be told. From the edgy heart of London to a remote idyll on the Stockholm archipelago, this is a journey into the power of love, the damage wreaked by emotional depression and the agony of sexual deceit. It is a story of the genetic impact of nature wrestling with the heady demands of nurture, of patterns of behaviour and the cruel turns of fate.

Essay from the year 2005 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Comparative Literature, grade: A, University of Paderborn, language: English, abstract: application of the science of psychology to the study of culture. The screening of the movie Secrets of a Soul on the birthday of the founding father of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud in Berlin demonstrated the initial point of convergence between one of the most important and influential psychological theories of the 20th century and film production. Although Freud did not consider the cinematic medium as appropriate to fully explain the abstract concepts of psychoanalysis, which the film attempts by means of a case study concerning a patient’s treatment, there apparently occurred some sort of transference process between the analyst and the artists. Thus, by mutually reinforcing each other, both discourses gained legitimacy making it worthwhile to further examine this relationship. G.W. Pabst’s 1926 film, Secrets of a Soul (Geheimnisse einer Seele), is one such encounter, a chapter in the still unwritten and untheorized metahistory of psychoanalysis and cinema. This paper aims to make a contribution to that metahistorical text, proposing a combination of abstract analytical thought and popular entertainment during the Weimar Cinema period. In agreement with the notion, that “the ready appeal of cinema as an analogy for mental processes brings about the danger of the loss of the specificity of psychoanalytic understanding”3, I will not try to equate the two discourses, but rather follow two objectives: First, utilize psychoanalytic theory as an instrument for strategic interpretation of the story / plot of a particular film and second, attempt to crystallize out the way it corresponds with cinematic representation. In regards to the latter aspect I operate under the assumption, that the creative process of film making entails a big part of the unconscious and thus lends itself to psychoanalytic interpretation. Although in contrast to Secrets of a Soul it does not deal with the method of psychoanalysis directly, I chose the movie The Cabinet of Dr Caligari for this paper, because I suppose that it contains various elements of the conceptual framework of the theory which comes about in narrative and visual terms. Primarily leaning onto a core text in the history of German film, written by the Marxian representative Krakauer, I will thus treat the movie as an allegory of psychoanalysis in general and try to see to what extent it can be considered a reflection of the so called collective unconscious. It was 1956 when Michael and Karen first met as teens in the streets of New York City. They were both determined to escape their dysfunctional families, buoyed up by dreams of success. Their four years as soulmates would have been forever except Michael was addicted to heroin. After walking away, Karen buried all her feelings from the pure joy of their love to her dismay of drugs as a third partner yet she still lived with the heartbreak of going separate ways. When Karen realized her history as a New York City street kid was atypical, she wrote a memoir, Songs from the Street: A Native New Yorker Comes of Age in the Fifties. She reveals how writing this memoir unleashed powerful memories of her teenage love as well as a curiosity about what happened to Michael after they parted. Karen sought closure and describes how she found Michael, now clean, sober, and professionally accomplished. Through this reconnection, their love was reborn and their life together as soulmates came full circle.
